CALL FOR WORKS for the interdisciplinary project DAS (UN)BEWEGTE

IGNM – Section Upper Austria is delighted to announce a CALL FOR WORKS for the interdisciplinary project DAS (UN)BEWEGTE, open to members of IGNM Section Austria.

We invite composers to submit either existing pieces or proposals for new projects for any combination of the following instruments and disciplines (ranging from solo to quartet):

  • Organ

  • Horn

  • Electronics (8 channels; fixed electronics preferred; live electronics possible only if the composer can be present for the rehearsal and concert to assist with the realization)

  • Dance (1 dancer)

The selected works will be performed on November 7, 2025, at the Stadtpfarrkirche Urfahr in Linz by Alexander Bauer (organ), Paquito Ernesto Chiti (horn), Polina Kliuchnikova (dance), and Elwin Ebmer (sound and light). IGNM Section Upper Austria will cover accommodation costs for the selected composers in Linz on the day of the concert.

Application Requirements:

  • CV

  • Score of an existing piece or a project description of the new work (including instrumentation and duration)

  • For new pieces, please also include two scores of previous works

Submission Deadline: April 1, 2025, to the email address ignm.ooe.linz@gmail.com

Eligibility: Composers of all ages, nationalities, and genders who are members of IGNM Section Austria are invited to apply. New members are also welcome — more information on membership can be found here: https://www.ignm.at/mitglied-werden

Jury: The jury consists of Sara Stevanovic (chairwoman of IGNM Section Upper Austria and composer), Alexander Bauer (organist and composer), Paquito Ernesto Chiti (hornist), and Alireza Shahabolmolkfard (composer). Results will be announced by April 8, 2025.

Additional Information for New Works: Please note that IGNM cannot offer a composition fee. However, we are happy to provide an official commission letter from IGNM Austria, which can be used to apply for funding from relevant institutions.

The project explores spatiality, the use of space, contrasts in physical movement, and the interplay between voiced and voiceless gestures. Selected composers are encouraged to collaborate with the performers during the writing phase, particularly with the dancer, to fully integrate spatial and choreographic elements if dance is included in the composition.

Score Deadline for New Works: September 15, 2025

For technical or spatial inquiries, please contact us at ignm.ooe.linz@gmail.com
